SHABAN
PEACE FORUM
Introduction
The
Shaban Peace Forum is an initiative of Sheikh Salis Shaban Foundation and the
Islamic Humanitarian Foundation to promote peace and eradicate conflict among
Ghanaian in general and Muslims in particular through dialogue and grass-root
interactions. As a Trans-African Islamic leader, Sheikh Salis Shaban has
contributed a lot in maintaining peace in numerous Muslim communities in Ghana,
Togo and Benin. As a leader, he believes in Alternative Dispute Resolution as a
way to manage conflict and misunderstanding.
Internationally, he has preached about peace, dialogue and
interreligious co-existence to Muslim populations in Birmingham, UK, USA, Holland.
Ghana as a nation is seen as a beacon of peace not only in West Africa or
Africa but in the world at large.
However, Sheikh Salis Shaban believes
that there is no need to take this peace for granted. He advocates that we need
to be proactive in sustaining and maintaining this peace we are enjoying. Thus,
sustaining Peace should be seen as a process and not an event. The
responsibility lies on all Ghanaians to contribute their quota in assisting peace
instritution like the police to maintain the peace we are enjoying.
